About our Public Finance Group

We are a national public finance investment banking franchise with a diversified business focused on middle market issuers and specialty sector expertise. Our core business is partnering with not-for-profits, private developers, and state and local governments to raise capital for infrastructure projects through the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable bonds. We are currently looking for a Public Finance Investment Banking Director to join the public finance Senior Living team. This role can be based in any of our regional offices, offering flexibility for the right candidate regardless of location.

About the Role

The Director will serve as a senior member of the Senior Living team, responsible for leading deal origination, structuring, and execution for clients across the senior living and long-term care sector. We are interested in candidates who bring deep industry expertise, strong relationships, strategic insight, and the ability to develop new business opportunities. This individual will manage day-to-day client relationships, oversee transaction teams, and play a lead role in expanding the firm's presence within the sector. Depending on the candidate's background, the role may emphasize sector origination, strategic planning, relationship development, and franchise building, with transaction execution responsibilities calibrated to the individual's experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management:Build and sustain strong relationships with senior living providers, not-for-profit sponsors, and other issuers within the sector.
  • Origination & Business Development:Identify and cultivate new client relationships and strategic opportunities; engage senior living leaders in consultative discussions regarding capital needs, growth plans, affiliations, refinancing, campus repositioning, and long-term financial strategy.
  • Transaction Execution:Lead the structuring and execution of bond issuances, refinancings, and other capital markets transactions specific to senior living financings.
  • Quantitative Modeling:Develop and oversee financial models to structure and optimize debt transactions, including calculating debt service and sizing bond issues.
  • Strategic Advisory:Provide expert guidance to clients on capital raising, debt structuring, and long-term financial planning.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:Lead and mentor Associates and Analysts, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture consistent with the group's mentorship-driven approach.
  • Market Intelligence:Maintain a deep understanding of trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments within the senior living and long-term care space.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with internal teams across capital markets, credit, and public finance to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
  • Recruiting & Franchise Building:Contribute to the identification and recruitment of new talent for the group, along with other franchise-building initiatives.

Who We Are Looking For

We are open to candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds, including:

  • Public finance or investment banking;
  • Municipal advisory or financial advisory;
  • Senior living or long-term care operations;
  • Chief financial officer, finance, or development roles at nonprofit senior living organizations;
  • Healthcare finance or real estate finance;
  • Strategic, management, or capital-planning consulting; or
  • Related roles involving senior living strategy, capital formation, debt financing, or institutional relationship development.

The strongest candidates will combine sector credibility, sound financial judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with boards, CEOs, CFOs, developers, lenders, investors, and other sector participants.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline; MBA a plus.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, public finance, municipal advisory, senior living, long-term care, healthcare finance, consulting, development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with senior living and long-term care operating models, capital needs, debt structures, and the financing considerations affecting nonprofit and other healthcare providers. Experience with tax-exempt bonds, taxable debt, bank financing, private placements, or municipal finance is preferred but not required for candidates with relevant industry experience.
  • Proven track record of client relationship management and successful transaction execution.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Series 52 and 63 and 7 licenses required or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and developing junior team members.

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
