Overall Job Summary
The Store Operations Manager is responsible for leading operational execution in the store, with primary ownership of freight process execution and scheduling, F2F process execution, weekly recovery execution including Targeting Outs, backroom and dock standards, feed and food operational standards, security, and oversight of the Receiver role. This role is process-driven and promotes a safe, productive, compliant work environment while coaching Operations Team Members and supporting the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
It is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors through Customer engagement, Team Member coaching, and accountability for execution.
  • Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards.
  • Store-volume model: under $7M stores transition Assistant Store Manager responsibilities into the Store Operations Manager role.
  • Store-volume model: $7M-$9M stores use Store Operations Manager ownership with an Ops Team routine; $8M-$9M stores remove the Sales Manager role from the model.
  • Store-volume model: over $9M stores include a Sales Manager and a dedicated opening manager separate from the Store Operations Manager.
  • Lead freight process execution and scheduling, including truck unload planning, freight movement, stocking execution, and follow-up to operational standards.
  • Lead F2F process execution and ensure timely follow-up on assigned routines and process expectations.
  • Lead weekly recovery process execution, including Targeting Outs, and ensure Store recovery standards are maintained.
  • Oversee the Receiver role, including Receiver Weekly Checklist completion, coaching, development, follow-up, and accountability for receiving standards.
  • Oversee inventory control and compliance processes completed by the Receiver, including inventory adjustments, discrepancies, negative on-hand review, PO processing, transfers, buybacks, RTV, and reconciliation routines.
  • Maintain sidelot/FOD presentation, including signage, and ensure standards are executed consistently.
  • Maintain backroom, dock, and assembly area standards, organization, and recovery.
  • Maintain shelters, containers, feed centers, and related outside standards.
  • Own damage feed/food markdown process execution and follow-up.
  • Own the Styrofoam block process and pallet and wood crate process.
  • Verify owners manuals are completed and maintained according to company standards.
  • Own all store security processes and standards, including inside, outside, and high-dollar controls.
  • Lead and coach assigned Operations Team Members; in applicable stores, manage direct reports and execute the Ops Team routine.
  • In under $7M stores and $7M-$9M stores, open Monday-Friday except the designated freight/process day, based on the operating model.
  • In over $9M stores, focus on operational execution without serving as the dedicated opening manager, based on the operating model.
  • Support Store Manager with store operations, planning, prioritization, delegation, safety, compliance, and financial results.
  • Operate forklift, baler, cash register/computer, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases.
  • Complete all documentation associated with the above job duties accurately and timely.
  • Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Experience: Previous retail leadership experience is required. Prior store operations experience and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
Education: High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Regardless of education level, you must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

  • Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Excels in a fast paced work environment

Working Conditions
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.
  • Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours
  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • This position is non-sedentary.
  • It is essential that FAST Team Members have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register) (forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and to dispense propane (propane certification and dispensing requirement does not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification for various business needs.
