Job Description

AVP, Financial Operations - remote position

Crum & Forster is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Financial Operations to lead key finance and operational accounting activities supporting our commercial property & casualty and specialty insurance business. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, strengthening internal controls, supporting reporting accuracy, and driving process improvement across functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day financial operations, including accounting oversight, financial controls, reconciliations, and operational reporting
  • Support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Partner with business, finance, treasury, underwriting, and shared services teams to improve financial workflows and issue resolution
  • Monitor financial processes to help ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards
  • Review financial data, identify trends or variances, and escalate key issues to senior finance leadership
  • Manage, mentor, and develop financial operations staff while promoting operational efficiency and accountability
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and control enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial operations, insurance accounting, or finance leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, reporting processes, and accounting principles
  • Experience within the property & casualty insurance industry strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills preferred

To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
