Job description

The Director, Financial Marketing, serves as a finance and commercial leader within the Marketing organization, providing financial analysis, forecasting, risk management support, and investment evaluation across EOG's oil, natural gas, and NGL marketing activities. This role leads a team of Financial Marketing Analysts and partners closely with Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Treasury, Corporate Development, Operations, and Executive Leadership. This individual is expected to lead complex commercial evaluations, communicate recommendations across multiple organizational levels, and guide significant business and investment decisions.
Financial and Commercial Analysis
  • Lead financial and commercial evaluations of complex marketing, midstream, transportation, gathering and processing, hedging, and strategic investment opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations regarding pricing structures, commercial agreements, transportation arrangements, and investment opportunities.
  • Ability to evaluate projects on a rate of return, net present value, margin, payback period, and other key metrics.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated financial models that evaluate profitability, ROI, risk, capital efficiency, and long-term value creation across marketing and midstream opportunities. Models incorporate commodity price assumptions, operational constraints, market dynamics, contractual terms, capital requirements, and strategic considerations.
  • Conduct scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and market assessments to support negotiations and commercial strategy.
  • Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure analytical rigor in support of commercial negotiations and strategic decision-making.

Forecasting and Reporting
  • Lead forecasting for marketed oil, natural gas, and NGL volumes, pricing, revenues, and marketing-related expenses.
  • Analyze historical and forward pricing for various marketed commodities in specific geographic areas.
  • Analyze and maintain a strong understanding of oil, NGL, and natural gas macro trends.
  • Monitor actual results against guidance and explain variances associated with commodity prices, basis differentials, infrastructure constraints, and operational performance.
  • Support hedge portfolio management including settlements, exposure analysis, reporting, and risk communication.
  • Develop enhanced reporting, dashboards, and analytics that improve decision-making and operational performance.
Leadership
  • Serve as a key leader within EOG's Marketing organization, driving a culture of commercial excellence, intellectual rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement that reflects Marketing's critical role in delivering value across EOG's oil, natural gas, and NGL portfolio.
  • Lead the Financial Marketing team, currently consisting of 5 analyst professionals, while mentoring direct reports and other commercial professionals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through complex commercial evaluations from concept through final approval.
  • Support division marketers with analysis surrounding commercial agreements (gas gathering & processing (G&P), NGLs, residue gas, crude) and historical lookbacks of existing commercial agreements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and Marketing leadership, translating detailed analytics into actionable business recommendations and identifying risks, opportunities, and value-enhancing alternatives that support corporate objectives.
  • Handle highly sensitive commercial, financial, strategic, and executive-level information with discretion and confidentiality.
Communication and Presentation
  • Develop presentations and supporting materials for technical teams, functional leaders, senior management, and executive leadership including board-ready materials that effectively communicate business implications and strategic recommendations.
  • Present Marketing initiatives, performance trends, commodity guidance, and variance analyses to senior management and executive leadership.
  • Clearly communicate detailed assumptions, methodologies, sensitivities, and economic outcomes during project development.
  • Synthesize complex analyses into concise executive-level recommendations that highlight key value drivers, risks, alternatives, and requested approvals.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of energy industry experience in marketing, commercial finance, risk management, trading, investment analysis, or related disciplines.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, valuation, and commercial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential, commercially sensitive, and executive-level information with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative open-floor-plan environment while handling sensitive and confidential business information.
  • Experience in analytical reporting and special projects, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, pivot quickly and manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfort with AI-driven tools and a willingness to explore emerging technologies as part of a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of oil, natural gas, NGL, and midstream markets.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical reporting capabilities.
