Job description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced FP&A Manager to join Susquehanna’s FP&A team, based in Bala Cynwyd, PA. This is a player-coach role: you will own and execute day-to-day FP&A responsibilities while also helping build out the capabilities, processes, and tools the function needs as the firm grows.

The role spans financial planning, cost reporting, management reporting, and expense methodologies. There is meaningful work across all of these areas, and we need someone who can move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution. The right candidate is analytically sharp, a strong communicator, and genuinely energized by environments where the work is not yet fully defined. Experience in financial services or trading is a plus; familiarity with how a prop trading firm operates is a real differentiator. Yearly travel to our international offices may be required.

What You’ll Do Planning & Forecasting
  • Own the firms budgeting and forecasting processes; partner closely with FP&A colleagues globally; drive continuous improvements to how they run and what they produce
  • Partner with senior leaders across trading desks and support functions to build and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Partner with global FP&A colleagues to align on planning timelines, methodology, and reporting standards
  • Extend financial planning capabilities toward longer-term strategic planning as the function matures
Cost Reporting & Expense Methodology
  • Own cost reporting across the firm; ensuring it is transparent, consistent, and directly relevant to business decisions
  • Maintain and improve cost driver definitions and allocation logic across trading desks, strategies, and support functions; document methodologies so they are auditable and easy to maintain
  • Develop and refine return metrics including return on capital and RWA, linking P&L performance to consumption at the desk and strategy level
  • Evaluate existing allocation approaches and simplify where they have become overly complex or inconsistent
Management Reporting
  • Own and continuously improve management reporting packages for senior leadership, covering cost performance vs. budget, capital efficiency metrics, and trend analysis
  • Make reporting easy to act on: senior leaders should read a package and know immediately where to focus
  • Build for scale; automated where possible, consistent with broader FP&A standards, and designed to grow with the business
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as a finance partner to senior leaders across trading and support functions; turn complex financial data into clear, actionable takeaways
  • Partner with global FP&A colleagues to share best practices, align on governance standards, and ensure consistency across regions
  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations to improve data flows and underlying systems supporting FP&A
  • Handle ad hoc analytical requests from senior leadership quickly and accurately
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and develop the FP&A team day-to-day, setting clear priorities and creating an environment where people do their best work
  • Coach team members actively; providing regular feedback, investing in their development, and helping them grow into broader responsibilities over time
  • As the function scales, play a key role in building out the team: defining roles, supporting hiring, and onboarding new members effectively
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, intellectual curiosity, and high standards for analytical rigor and communication
What we’re looking for
  • 12+ years in FP&A or a comparable analytical finance role, ideally in financial services or a trading environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving FP&A capabilities — not just running existing processes.
  • Experience developing or refining expense methodologies and cost allocation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with return on capital, RWA, and P&L-relative cost metrics in a trading or financial services context.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with BI and data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and/or SQL.
  • Clear communicator who can build alignment across teams on complex financial topics.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership and is comfortable driving process improvement, including automation.
  • Experience building or managing a finance team is a plus.
