Job description

We are looking for a Finance Manager to support financial operations and strategic planning for a long-term contract opportunity in Vermont. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who can translate complex data into clear recommendations, maintain accurate reporting, and guide budgeting activities with confidence. The position will play a key part in strengthening financial oversight, improving forecasting accuracy, and supporting stakeholders with timely analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities by reviewing accounts, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Produce regular financial statements and management reports that highlight performance, risks, and budget variances for leadership review.
• Build and maintain financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and informed decision-making across the organization.
• Analyze operating results and spending trends to identify issues, explain variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop forecasts and budget projections using historical data, current conditions, and business assumptions.
• Oversee grant-related accounting activities to ensure expenses, allocations, and reporting align with funding requirements.
• Provide finance support within a municipal or public-sector environment, including compliance with applicable reporting standards and controls.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial processes, strengthen reporting consistency, and support ongoing operational needs.• 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related management role.
• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Strong hands-on experience creating financial models and preparing forecasts for business planning.
• Working knowledge of grant accounting principles and related compliance expectations.
• Experience supporting municipalities, public-sector entities, or similarly structured organizations.
• Advanced Excel and quantitative analysis skills with the ability to present findings clearly.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a long-term contract environment.
