HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Finance Manager is an important member of our Varsity Event Finance team by advising senior regional management on key financial decisions, overseeing a region's financial health by analyzing data, assisting with the creation of financial reports, managing event budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Partner with regional management to advise on financial decisions to ensure financial success of regional events.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, forecast future financial performance in season.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders, including income statements and balance sheets for region.
  • Understanding of international tax implications of cross-border transactions, including coordinating with internal tax advisors to ensure accurate tax filings.
  • Ability to handle financial details for companies that conduct business simultaneously in different countries.
  • Accounting for fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and their impact on financial statements.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction, implement cost-saving measures, and monitor expenses against budgets.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Effectively communicate financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience using Blackline, preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and analyzing large datasets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles, processes, and best practices
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, including but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, accrual accounting, and prepaid expense amortization
  • Experience developing financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and business decision-making is preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in relevant field

This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC's, laptop, telephone will be required.

Travel

Travel is minimal, any travel would be primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected for meetings.
