Financial Inclusion Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a financial inclusion manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Inclusion Manager, you need expertise in financial services, regulatory knowledge, and a background in economics or business, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with digital banking platforms, mobile payment technologies, and data analysis tools is commonly required, along with certifications such as CFA or financial inclusion-specific training. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and cultural sensitivity are crucial soft skills for building trust and promoting inclusive financial solutions. These skills enable managers to effectively design, implement, and scale financial products that reach underserved communities, driving both social impact and organizational success.

What are some common challenges faced by a financial inclusion manager when implementing new programs in underserved communities?

Financial Inclusion Managers often encounter challenges such as building trust within underserved communities, overcoming regulatory and infrastructural barriers, and tailoring financial products to meet diverse local needs. Establishing strong partnerships with community organizations and local leaders is crucial for successful outreach. Additionally, navigating limited access to digital tools and ensuring financial literacy among target populations are ongoing priorities that require creative, culturally sensitive solutions.

What does a financial inclusion manager do?

A Financial Inclusion Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase access to financial services for underserved or marginalized communities. They work with banks, nonprofits, government agencies, and other stakeholders to design products, programs, and policies that promote economic participation. Their role often includes conducting research, analyzing barriers to financial access, and measuring the impact of inclusion initiatives. By fostering partnerships and creating innovative solutions, Financial Inclusion Managers help ensure that more individuals and businesses can participate in the formal financial system.

Job description

About Us
We're building the world's leading cross-border fintech for emerging markets - empowering families, fueling local economies, and changing how millions access financial services.
Since our launch in 2019, we have transformed how money moves across borders with our operations spanning 6 out of 7 continents and covering both the busiest and most underserved (remittance) corridors. We tapped into a massive shift - from banks to phones - bringing digital finance to places where traditional systems never reached. The next stage of growth will fuel a network of services and products especially designed to make money more accessible to diaspora communities including local cards, and additional savings and payments features.
We're growing fast, backed by world-class investors, and scaling a product that blends real world impact with cutting edge fintech innovation.
Here's a little more:
  • Founded by Harvard grads and 3-time founders who previously built Segovia (acquired) and GiveDirectly (>$300M revenue, fastest-growing NGO in the world)
  • Backed by top investors including Spark Capital, Canaan, Reid Hoffman, Breyer Capital, Unbound, Wamda, and more
  • Built by global top performers from Bain, Google, McKinsey, Uber, Checkout, Bolt, and beyond - we move fast, stay humble, and care deeply about our mission
  • Truly global team - 250+ people, 50+ nationalities, 50+ languages
  • Guided by our values - ownership, impact, humility, and heart - in deed, not just word

The Role
Your role will be to boost the growth of TTS in the Latam corridor. You will work to continue launching TTS within various Latam communities in Mexico & Central America, and build a comprehensive, community-oriented growth strategy. While performance marketing is managed centrally, you will lead our local expansion by identifying exactly who our audience follows and trusts. You will conduct deep customer research to understand the emotional side of sending money home; execute high-impact partnerships; and drive boots-on-the-ground awareness to win against our real competition: the in-person remittance counters at Latino supermarkets.
Reporting to our Regional Manager, Latam, you'll combine great sales and marketing prowess with a data-driven test-and-learn mindset. You'll be a creative thinker who is always looking for ways to hack growth
The role offers the chance to join a high growth startup and to have a positive impact on the communities we serve. We are looking for a candidate with an immigrant background or a deep, lived understanding of remittance culture. You should have an entrepreneurial spirit, a test-and-learn mindset, and the execution power to drive seasonal campaigns (e.g., Father's Day, back-to-school) from idea to implementation.
Responsibilities
  • Build trust-based relationships with diaspora communities through in-person and online communications
  • Conduct customer research with transfer senders on a regular basis
  • Initiate, negotiate and build partnerships with community associations and organizations
  • Set up local offline and community-driven awareness campaigns
  • Source and lead community ambassadors, champions and influencers
  • Manage customers' CRM
  • Optimize Operations with help from Product, Ops, Eng and Support teams
  • Deepdive into customer pain points and work with the different teams as well as the Country Manager to solve them
  • Travel to connect with and better understand the Latam diaspora and grow our customer base
  • Dedicate part of your time to call customers and respond to messages/comments across our our owned media channels
  • Work with the Country Manager to outline the growth plan for the market, including the growth strategy, monthly budget, targets, CAC, and CRM campaigns
Requirements
  • Based in Mexico City or NYC.
  • Relevant experience in high growth-environments (startups, marketing, fintechs); we are flexible on seniority and open to junior or manager level candidates
  • Exceptional knowledge and networks among the Latam diaspora across [Mexico and Central America]
  • Strong business development/sales/marketing/analytical background
  • Experience driving execution-heavy growth initiatives and seasonal community campaigns
  • Having contacts with Latin influencers and celebrities in [location(s)] is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for working with and for migrant communities
  • Resourceful and has the ability to get things done. Also doing "more" with "less"
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
Also you are
  • Outgoing - you love speaking to people and enjoy building meaningful relationships with customers and community members across cultures
  • Execution oriented - we have an "impact first" philosophy and a lot to be done. You should be able to take an idea to implementation
  • Mission-Oriented - you are passionate about working with immigrant communities and/or financial inclusion
  • Flexible - you are comfortable setting your working hours to accomplish your goals, including work commitments on nights and weekends (e.g events or customer meetings)
  • Organized - you have a system for how you approach your work that can keep you on track in a scrappy startup environment
  • Driven - you thrive in fast-paced, target oriented environments
