About the Position The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) is seeking an Associate Financial Analyst (FE2) to join our Financial Analysis Team in the Company Supervision Division.

Review financial statements, regulatory filings, and supporting documentation to assess organizational solvency and ability to meet obligations to consumers

Prepare written financial analyses, risk assessments, and recommendations that support regulatory oversight and decision-making. Monitor assigned insurers and regulated entities, identifying emerging concerns and recommending appropriate supervisory or enforcement actions. Communicate findings and collaborate with internal staff, legal counsel, and state and national insurance regulators to support coordinated oversight activities.

Review annual reports for Charitable Gift Annuity issuers and other regulated entities to ensure compliance with Washington laws and regulations. Maintain accurate case files, analysis documentation, and regulatory records using agency databases and audit software. Stay current on insurance regulations, financial analysis standards, and industry trends through ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: Six (6) years* of qualifying professional experience in accounting or auditing. Qualifying professional experience is defined as experience as an analyst/examiner/auditor preparing, evaluating, auditing financial statements (e.g

balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, etc.) in a regulated or professional environment. Successful completion of 20 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, finance, economics, or insurance. Professional experience may not substitute for the credit hours

Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Academic Degree Equivalency Chart Degree Years of Relevant Experience Equivalency Associate's Degree 2 years of experience Bachelor's Degree 4 years of experience Master's Degree 5 years of experience *A degree in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, or equivalent field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, or a foreign equivalent may be substituted for relevant experience

Proof of degree may be required prior to employment. If a degree was awarded outside of the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: A Bachelor's or Master's degree with major study in finance, business administration, economics, or accounting.

An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license granted by Washington State or another state that has reciprocity with Washington State. A designation of Accredited Financial Examiner (AFE) or Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) in an insurance discipline as granted by the Society of Financial Examiners (SOFE). Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
