Job description

RVE, an Ardurra Company, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern in our Cherry Hill, NJ office or our Egg Harbor Twp, NJ Office
This candidate will work under general supervision and perform assignments of limited scope that require the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks. Projects may include electrical system design, power distribution, lighting systems, electrical load calculations, equipment selection, fire alarm systems, emergency power systems, and related building and infrastructure improvements. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the design and analysis of electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.
Primary Function
The Electrical Engineering Intern will work under supervision to support a variety of electrical engineering projects and day-to-day project tasks. Responsibilities may include helping with electrical system layouts, basic calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation, data collection, and site visits. The Intern will gain hands-on experience with engineering and design software, electrical systems, and project design processes while working alongside experienced engineers. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, dependable, and interested in building their technical skills and gaining real-world electrical engineering experience.
Primary Duties
  • Under supervision, performs entry-level electrical engineering duties of moderate difficulty, gaining exposure to electrical systems and engineering projects.
  • Assists with electrical design tasks, including power distribution, lighting systems, electrical load calculations, equipment selection, and preparation of design documents.
  • Supports engineers with project data collection, technical calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation.
  • Assists with reviewing electrical drawings, equipment schedules, and project specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Supports field investigations and site visits to document existing electrical systems and conditions.
  • Applies basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electrical systems to contribute to project deliverables.
  • Gains experience using engineering and design software to assist with electrical system layouts, calculations, drafting, and documentation.
  • Supports project teams with various technical and administrative assignments as needed.
  • Develops an understanding of applicable building codes, electrical codes, industry standards, and design practices.
  • Specific activities vary by assignment and project needs.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Interest in electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and building electrical design.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals and independently.
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering/design software is preferred but not required.
