Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join a high-profile enterprise data modernization initiative within a large banking environment. This role is remote.
Summary:
This role will support strategic data migration and ingestion efforts as the organization continues its transition from on-premises platforms to a modern Snowflake-based data lake architecture.
This consultant will work within a fast-paced Data Lake Engineering organization focused on delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality data ingestion pipelines supporting critical banking initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with enterprise data integration, Snowflake, large-scale data movement, and troubleshooting complex data issues in regulated environments.
This is a contract opportunity supporting a highly visible initiative with direct interaction with engineering leadership and technical leads.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build, test, and support enterprise data ingestion pipelines
* Develop and optimize large-scale data movement and integration processes
* Work with structured and semi-structured data across modern data platforms
* Support migration efforts from on-premises environments into Snowflake-based data lake solutions
* Perform source-to-target data validation and data quality testing
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex data integration and ingestion issues
* Collaborate with team leads, engineers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and proactively identify risks or gaps
* Clearly communicate data discrepancies, pipeline failures, and integration concerns
* Participate in highly time-sensitive project deliverables and production support activities
* Contribute to engineering best practices around data quality, ingestion reliability, and platform scalability
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, or Big Data engineering environments
Strong hands-on experience with:
* Snowflake
* Kafka
* SQL
* Big data platforms and ingestion frameworks
* Cloudera
* Qlik Replicate and/or Precisely Connect
* Experience building and supporting enterprise ingestion pipelines
* Strong understanding of source-to-target validation and data quality testing methodologies
* Ability to troubleshoot complex data and integration issues independently
* Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge assumptions, ask clarifying questions, and work through ambiguous requirements
* Experience working in Agile or fast-moving enterprise delivery environments
Preferred Qualifications:
* Banking, financial services, or other regulated industry experience
* Experience supporting enterprise data lake modernization initiatives
* Familiarity with data migration projects involving legacy/on-prem environments
* Experience working within large enterprise engineering organizations
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
