Job description

Position Description POSITION DESCRIPTION Performs routine technical work involving analysis of financial statements and reports, preparation of work papers, schedules, graphs, charts and reports. Develops preliminary interpretations and provides recommendations to management. Key Responsibilities Prepares financial reports by preparing periodic internal and external financial documents, supporting schedules and financial reports.

Research, compiles, monitors and summarizes financial information and data and reports on financial condition. Assists department accounting staff in meeting their financial and accounting functional goals. Maintains financial programs in accordance with established procedures.

Analyzes financial statements and reports. Assists department representatives in the review and evaluation of selected financial reports. Compiles financial data and prepares work papers, schedules, graphs and charts as required.

Assists in or develops and maintains computer spreadsheet models, databases and queries. Designs and maintains spreadsheets and databases to support departmental financial operations. Conducts project and division specific financial analysis.

Prepares, updates and maintains monthly financial activity reports, spreadsheets and ledgers. Maintains financial data and records. Assists in developing strategic and tactical financial plans.

May assist in the development and implementation of departmental financial policies, procedures and strategies. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Master's degree in a directly related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. Experience No experience is required. Substitutions Four years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement.

An associate's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field and two years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement. Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSAs): Policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. Federal, State, Local and County applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standardized financial, accounting and auditing practices. Budget planning, development, preparation, and monitoring. Manual and automated systems relating to assigned function.

Modern office practices, procedures and methods. Computer equipment includes word processing, spreadsheets, databases and a variety of software packages. Business letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation.

Problem-solving and decision-making. Both verbal and written communication, including presentations. Work independently.

Manage time well, perform multiple tasks and organize diverse activities. Analyze, calculate, forecast and interpret financial data and identify and correct errors. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental clientele, representatives of outside agencies and providers, other County employees and officials, and the general public.

Licensure: Valid Texas Driver's License upon hire, a good driving record NOTE: Qualifying education, experience, knowledge, and skills must be documented on your job application. General Information General Information Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work: Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week. Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload. Salary: Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.

Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure: Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting, or operations command center environment, but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event). This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs., frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs
