Job description

Lead one of the busiest and most successful The UPS Store locations in Washington, DC. We're looking for an experienced retail leader who enjoys developing employees, improving operations, and taking ownership of a business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have the autonomy to make decisions, coach your team, and drive the store's success while working directly with supportive local ownership.

The ideal candidate has college coursework, an associate's or bachelor's degree, or equivalent leadership experience in retail management, along with at least two years of retail store operations experience. They possess strong leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills, are proficient with Microsoft Office, POS systems, and other business software, and have the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. The successful candidate is an effective communicator who knows how to listen, lead by example, motivate a team, and drive outstanding customer service and operational performance.

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience, plus performance bonuses

Store hours are :

Monday-Friday 8:30am-7:00pm

Saturday: 9am-6pm

Sunday: 10am-4pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs personnel management, which includes recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching associates
  • Schedules work assignments and facilitates weekly or monthly staff meetings
  • Monitors, evaluates and maximizes customer service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Develops and implements the store marketing program
  • Manages Center financials and prepares/provides reporting
  • Manages inventory
  • Reviews daily employee timesheets and submits for payroll processing
  • Oversees Center maintenance, including cleanliness, safety, and organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Leads by example by working alongside associates to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College coursework, technical education, or equivalent management experience preferred.
  • Previous retail management experience required, including at least two years in a leadership role.
  • P&L experience preferred
  • Experience leading retail teams of 5–15 employees
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, POS systems and cloud-based software
  • Ability to analyze sales reports and labor costs
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to motivate, coach, develop employees, and take ownership of results.
