Job description

Summary:
This position serves as the accounts payable clerk and performs advanced clerical work in the area of Finance accounts payable. Key job duties include processing purchase orders and invoices and distributing payments as requested. Other key job duties include entering data and maintaining a variety of files and confidentiality of records. This position answers questions and provides information to the public, outside agencies, other departments and divisions. Responsibilities also include coordination of the City's purchasing cards for department operations and services. May provide task direction or instruction to lower level clerical staff to assure correctness and completeness of their work.
Qualifications:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade required with supplemental training in accounting or bookkeeping. Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred. This position requires at least four years of responsible clerical or related experience with strong working knowledge of MS Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint: experience with data entry equipment and financial systems preferred. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task are critical in this role. Individual must be highly autonomous and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
