General Statement of Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Business Services the Finance Assistant is responsible for the effective and efficient business operations of the School District, utilizing available resources. This includes: accounting, account reconciliation and reporting, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and data processing, grant reporting, banking, insurance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and cafeteria operations. The Finance Assistant will assist the Director of Finance with financial budgeting, financial planning, financial analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, auditing, banking, cafeteria operations, short-term & long-term capital plans and ad-hoc requests.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, business management with a minimum of five years successful experience in accounting is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with school business operations, Munis municipal ERP software, accounting, finance, banking, reporting, auditing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of and experience with federal and state grant writing, administration & reporting.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Request for Proposal (RFP) specifications, procurement & processing.
  • Computer literate, must be able to acquire a proficiency in departmental computer applications, including the State Department of Education interfacing applications.
  • Ability to initiate, administer and direct, with minimal supervision, a wide variety of duties in the areas of finance, accounting, procurement and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all Shelton Public School and City of Shelton stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to department "team" concept and the success of the organization.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 plus comprehensive benefits package
