CITY OF INDEPENDENCE โ€“ JOB POSTING
Position: Office Assistant (Part-Time)
Department: Airport

The City of Independence is seeking a friendly, organized, and customerโ€‘focused individual to join the Airport Department as a partโ€‘time Office Assistant. This atโ€‘will position works under the general direction of the Airport Director and serves as the first point of contact for visitors, tenants, and the public. The Office Assistant performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and customer service duties essential to daily airport operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones, route calls, and respond to emails and inquiries.
  • Greet and assist visitors and tenants professionally; direct individuals to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with facility rentals or requested services.
  • Enforce airport facility rules and regulations related to public health and safety.
  • Maintain records, filing systems, and perform data entry.
  • Perform basic math and accounting tasks related to collecting, recording, and handling money.
  • Support invoicing, receipt tracking, and other light financial duties.
  • Assist with emergency procedures in accordance with the airportโ€™s emergency action plan.
  • Operate office equipment and update digital documents as needed.
  • Assist with public communications, announcements, and optional social media updates.
  • Attend required inโ€‘service training sessions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to follow and execute oral and written instructions effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
