Senior Cost Accountant - Manufacturing

Our client is a well-established, privately held manufacturing company in Ocala, Florida with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and long-term stability. As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to play a key role in strengthening their accounting team.

This is more than a traditional cost accounting position. You'll partner closely with the CFO and operations team to analyze manufacturing costs, improve processes, and support strategic business decisions. The position offers excellent long-term growth, with opportunities to expand into broader accounting responsibilities and a potential path toward a Controller role based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze raw material, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing
  • Collect, monitor, and evaluate manufacturing cost data
  • Review material price changes and assess their impact on product costs and profitability
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and operations teams to improve efficiency
  • Assist with physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Reconcile inventory accounts as part of the month-end close process
  • Prepare financial and operational reports for management
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information
  • Support additional accounting and month-end close responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of Cost Accounting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with inventory accounting and manufacturing costing
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (Macola experience is a plus but not required)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
