Job description

Job Overview:

Get ready to turn operational data into meaningful business decisions! Marvin is hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to support the financial management of our Roanoke manufacturing facility. In this role, you'll provide cost analysis, inventory valuation, budgeting support, and financial reporting that drives operational performance and manufacturing efficiency. This position serves as a key financial partner to plant leadership, translating business results into actionable insights and supporting strategic decision-making.

An exceptional candidate brings strong expertise in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, a collaborative approach to working across departments, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. Success in this role requires analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement while supporting financial accuracy and operational excellence.

Highlights of your role:
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis across materials, labor, overhead, and inventory to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly plant financial results, including variance reporting against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes while providing financial insights to plant leadership and department managers.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Facilitate monthly financial review meetings with plant and departmental leadership, highlighting financial performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner closely with operations, supply chain, and cross-functional teams to gather data, improve cost performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, labor and overhead rate development, and financial presentations.
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can):
  • Strong foundation in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, and financial analysis.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing operations, standard costing, and inventory management.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, accounting systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and meeting facilitation skills with a high degree of accuracy and ownership.
Also want to make sure you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Cost Analyst, Cost Accountant, or in a related manufacturing finance role.
