THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Financial Analyst I should demonstrate enthusiasm at the prospect of learning about retail finance and developing their professional skillset. They will be integral to the success of the business by supporting the development and execution of effective business strategies. As a member of the FP&A team, this role will help shape Ulta’s future in one of the company’s most dynamic segments. This role helps to support core financial budgeting and reporting processes, with specific responsibilities on weekly reporting and monthly management of overhead spend. This person will partner with business leadership, helping support ad hoc analyses to deliver on strategic, financial, and operational goals.  

 YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

  • Reporting: Lead quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily reporting as necessary, developing deep foundational knowledge on key performance metrics. Identify and communicate both quantitative and qualitative impacts upwards to leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Monthly Forecast Management: In partnership with cross-functional business partners, develop and execute financial plans. Contribute to monthly forecasting meetings with partners, asking questions to drive thoughtful decision making.
  • Month-end Closure Support: In partnership with accounting business partners, support the monthly period close process by acting as an intermediary with the operational side of the business. Provide expense forecast information, actual expense estimates, and variance explanations where needed.
  • Annual Budget Planning: In partnership with cross functional business partners, support annual budget planning and multi-year long-term planning initiatives. Coordinate with partners to determine overhead expense needs and understand ultimate impact to bottom-line financial.
  • Ad-hoc Analytics: Support miscellaneous analytics projects as needed by queuing existing systems for data, consolidating, and analyzing the data, and providing insights to solve the question at hand.
  • Continuous Improvement: Naturally inquisitive and demonstrates curiosity to challenge status quo. Discovers and implements creative ways to improve processes, reports, file functionality, etc. Copes with change and embraces new ideas brought forth by others.
  • Inclusion: Strives to be aware of internal biases and stereotypes, manages them effectively to ensure positive workplace interactions. Contributes to a welcoming environment for all and seeks to understand people as individuals, valuing unique differences. Attends company-wide DE&I trainings and fire-side chats.

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Work Experience: 0-2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel and Powerpoint, MS Power BI experience preferred but not required
  • SAP or Business Intelligence systems knowledge is a plus
  • Background in compiling data, creating queries and replicable reports
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Maintains high level of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and intellectually curious
  • Desire to see personal and organizational effort lead to bottom line results
  • Comfortable working independently and in collaborative manner in a cross-functional environment
  • Prior budgeting and forecasting experience preferred, not required

The pay range for this position is $57,300.00 - $71,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
