Job description

Job Title: Interim Finance Director
Job Description
This interim Finance Director role leads day-to-day finance operations for a rapidly growing global services organization during a major finance transformation. You will stabilize core processes, oversee a lean team, and ensure continuity of project accounting, billing, and month-end close activities within Oracle Fusion PPM and Oracle ERP. This position focuses on operational leadership and issue resolution rather than building new systems or driving heavy process redesign, enabling senior leadership to concentrate on automation and transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee two finance managers and a team of approximately seven analysts, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Support project accounting and billing operations within Oracle Fusion PPM, ensuring accurate and timely billing, revenue recognition, and financial tracking.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for system and process questions related to Oracle ERP and Oracle Fusion PPM, providing practical guidance and resolutions.
  • Maintain continuity of financial operations, with particular focus on month-end close cycles, ensuring all deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Partner closely with the VP Finance within a VP Finance/CFO structure to ensure team performance, output consistency, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide light process guidance to the finance team to improve stability and efficiency without undertaking heavy process redesign.
  • Navigate and leverage Oracle ERP to support financial operations, reporting, and troubleshooting in a dynamic, active environment.
  • Support financial operations within a services-based, time and materials revenue model, ensuring accurate billing and revenue flows.
  • Collaborate with leadership engaged in finance transformation initiatives to align day-to-day operations with broader automation and transformation goals.
  • Operate effectively in a high-growth, global services business with recent organizational design changes, adapting to partially structured environments and lean teams.
Essential Skills
  • Proven prior experience in a director-level or senior leadership finance role, preferably within a services-based or consulting-type company.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion PPM (Project Portfolio Management), including overseeing project accounting workflows and guiding managers on system usage.
  • Practical experience navigating and leveraging Oracle ERP for financial operations, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated financial leadership and team oversight experience, including managing finance managers and analysts in a lean team environment.
  • Solid expertise in project accounting, including billing, revenue recognition, and financial tracking in a time and materials business model.
  • Strong background in managing and maintaining operational continuity during month-end close cycles in a complex organization.
  • Experience working within a services or time and materials revenue model, with a clear understanding of consulting/services-based billing environments and revenue flows.
  • Prior exposure to finance transformation initiatives and process automation, with the ability to support operations while transformation work is underway.
  • Experience in a global finance environment, supporting a large, multi-entity or geographically dispersed business.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to step into partially structured environments and provide stability and clarity in a high-growth context.
  • Comfort working with lean teams and reduced headcount while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a high-growth global services business, ideally around the mid-market to large-enterprise scale.
  • background working in matrixed, services-based organizations with multiple stakeholders and complex reporting lines.
  • Familiarity with finance transformation initiatives, including process automation and systems optimization.
  • Exposure to financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities in addition to core accounting and operations.
  • Comfort operating in environments with recent organizational design changes and evolving structures.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, light-touch process guidance without overhauling existing systems or workflows.
  • High level of ownership and accountability, particularly in remote or hybrid work settings.
  • Interest in roles with strong executive exposure and the opportunity to influence operations during transformation.
Work Environment
This role supports a global services business of approximately $450M in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with recent organizational design changes. The position is primarily remote, with occasional onsite presence in Yardley, PA (approximately one to two times per month). You will work standard business hours, with increased activity and demands during month-end close cycles. The finance function operates as a lean team with high ownership expectations and close collaboration across stakeholders. You will work alongside senior leadership engaged in a finance transformation initiative, using Oracle ERP and Oracle Fusion PPM as core technologies to manage project accounting, billing, and financial operations. The culture emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and the opportunity to have immediate impact in a high-visibility role with strong executive exposure and remote-first flexibility.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Yardley, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $110.00/hr.
