Job Description:
As the Chief Financial Officer for the M&M'S Ecosystem, you are the financial architect of a unique, competitively advantaged brand ecosystem for the Mars #1 brand that spans iconic physical flagship stores, newly established franchise stores, a growing digital commerce platform, and global consumer experiences. By actively shaping our growth story you will influence long-term strategy, and ensure the sustainable, profitable expansion of M&M'S brand experiences for millions of consumers worldwide.
You will serve as a pivotal member of the M&M'S Ecosystem Leadership Team, safeguarding our financial integrity by overseeing end-to-end financial delivery, including investment choices across the Ecosystem and P&L leadership.
This role also presents the unique opportunity to lead the Commercial (Procurement) function within the M&M'S Ecosystem, managing senior level negotiations with external partners and suppliers, for real estate contracts and other categories that are unique within Mars Snacking.
What are we looking for?
  • Proven experience leading finance in a global retail, CPG, or direct-to-consumer environment with full P&L responsibility.
  • Exceptional executive presence and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex financial information into a clear, compelling narrative for senior executive audiences.
  • Ability to influence and drive change in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent communication and senior level stakeholder management capabilities.
  • BS/BA degree is required
  • MBA is highly desirable

What will be your key responsibilities?
Business Co-Pilot & Strategic Partner
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader to the M&M'S Ecosystem GM and Leadership Team, using financial and non-financial data and insights to challenge assumptions, influence strategy, and guide financially sound decision-making.
  • Drive the long-range and annual strategic planning processes, developing financial scenarios and investment frameworks that optimize returns and support our growth ambitions.
  • Own the financial narrative by providing robust financial analysis, insights, and decision support to guide business strategy, resource allocation, and performance optimization.
  • As a member of the Troika (GM, CFO, and P&O Lead), oversee resource allocation and workforce planning strategies to optimize business outcomes for an organization of 600+ associates.
  • Provide financial leadership on commercial and operational decisions, including pricing strategy, promotional effectiveness, and inventory management (e.g., clearance, aging).

Great Line Management
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of 15 finance associates and 8 commercial associates, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Define the optimal finance organization structure and build a robust succession plan for key roles within the team.

Financial Custodian
  • Maintain a controlled environment to safeguard financial integrity, ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, internal and external audits, and Mars standards.
  • Champion and drive the value leadership agenda, ensuring continuous optimization of resource allocation.
  • Develop and execute strategies to manage the financial risk of commodity price volatility and other external market factors.
  • Ensures governance and compliance across segments and regions, adapting to local market requirements while maintaining global standards.

Financial Leadership Responsibilities Unique to M&M'S Ecosystem
  • Leads financial operations for a retail business with global reach, integrating physical retail and digital channels across multiple countries and legal entities.
  • Drive a deeper understanding of the value of the M&M'S Ecosystem across the enterprise by creating single, cohesive value creation and investment story. Partner with leaders in Integrated Intelligence, Retail, Marketing, Sales and external tech partners to create an industry-leading approach to ecosystem value quantification, combine financial data with crucial brand metrics, articulate and measure value, and prioritize initiatives that grow both our profits and our brand love.
  • Lead the financial evaluation and prioritization of all major capital investments and strategic initiatives, from new store/store remodel business cases to technology and digital platform enhancements.
  • Partner with Mars Snacking China to ensure a coherent financial strategy for franchise stores, unlocking the next phase of growth for the brand in China.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management for a global retail business operating in multiple countries and legal entities.
  • Leads procurement activities, including driving cost efficiencies, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships. Provide strategic oversight of real estate deals and other procurement categories that are unique in Mars Snacking, to optimize commercial value and support business expansion.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 252,000.00 - USD 346,500.00
