The Finance Associate supports the organization's accounting and finance functions by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions while providing analytical support for financial reporting, budgeting, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities Accounting

Process, record, and reconcile financial transactions accurately and timely.

Process and record bank deposits received via check, ACH, wire transfer, lockbox, and electronic payment platforms.

Process and record payments to insurance carriers, brokers, producers, premium finance companies, vendors, and other business partners.

Reconcile agency bill and direct bill receivable and payable accounts.

Reconcile commission statements, producer payables, broker payables, and other accounting subledgers.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Support the preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate financial records.

Research discrepancies, investigate accounting issues, and recommend appropriate resolutions.

Assist in documenting and improving accounting processes and internal controls.

Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely completion of daily, monthly, and annual accounting responsibilities.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and related schedules.

Assist in preparing monthly financial dashboards and management reports. Compile, organize, and analyze financial and operational data for management reporting.

Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) across the organization.

Assist with annual budgeting, departmental budget tracking, and variance analysis.

Perform ad hoc financial analyses, including revenue, profitability, expense, and cost analyses.

Prepare recurring sales reports and business performance analytics.

Assist with contingent revenue forecasting, auditing, reconciliation, and analysis.

Support long-range financial planning and forecasting initiatives.

Participate in identifying trends and providing data-driven recommendations to leadership.

Compile data for annual business valuations, lending requests, and financial due diligence.

Prepare and submit financial information for industry benchmarking and survey participation, including agency benchmarking programs and industry association surveys.

Maintain corporate financial records and assist with corporate document management.


Requirements

Preferred qualifications include:

Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

One to five years of accounting, finance, banking, auditing, or financial analysis experience.

Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, or agency management systems preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or other reporting tools is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
