What is a finance associate?

A finance associate provides support to a financial manager regarding financial statements and other legal documentation for a company. As a finance associate, your primary duties are to help managers in planning investments, creating budgets, assessing company payments, and making suggestions on how to increase profitability. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics, job experience in the banking or accounting industry, organizational skills, and the ability to create and manage complex financial documents and spreadsheets.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a finance associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Finance Associate, you need a strong grasp of financial analysis, accounting principles, and a relevant degree such as finance, accounting, or economics. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling software, and familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle are typically expected. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are standout soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and smooth collaboration within finance teams and with other departments.

What are some common challenges finance associates face when managing multiple deadlines and reporting requirements?

Finance Associates often juggle several tasks with tight deadlines, such as preparing financial reports, processing invoices, and supporting month-end or quarter-end closing activities. Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and clear communication with team members and other departments are essential to meet expectations and ensure accuracy. Many organizations provide structured workflows and support from senior finance staff to help associates manage these demands.

About Wisepath Recruiting
Wisepath Recruiting (a specialized recruiting division of Wisepath Group). We have been exclusively retained to recruit for a premier, established wealth management practice aligned with OneAmerica Financial®.
Our client firm operates under a specialized macroeconomic planning philosophy that prioritizes protection-first strategies, strategic cash-flow, and tax efficiency. This role is a direct-hire placement with our client agency, offering a structured transition program, full back-office administrative support, and localized marketing assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Senior Advisors in analyzing client data and preparing comprehensive macroeconomic financial models.
  • Participate in client meetings to assist with administrative follow-ups, case implementation, and annual review coordination.
  • Manage existing client relationships, addressing daily operational inquiries with high professional standards.
  • Collaborate with the team on local business development, group workshops, and educational marketing events.

Requirements
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or Series 6 and 63) are highly preferred.
  • Active State Life & Health Insurance License is required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • 1-3 years of experience in banking, insurance, or consultative client-facing sales.
  • High coachability, strong active-listening skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Compensation & Professional Development
  • Competitive income/ plus performance-based bonuses and joint-work splits.
  • Dedicated training program, licensing sponsorship, and a clear 3-year track to Lead Advisor status.
  • Estimated Compensation: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. Compensation features a structured hybrid model, typically utilizing a starting base salary or draw program paired with performance bonuses, new business commissions, and joint-work payout splits.

We are committed to equal opportunity and diversity in the workplace. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status. All inquiries and applications are kept confidential.
