We are seeking a detail-oriented, relationship-focused Loan Assistant to support our production team and play a critical role in the equipment financing process. What You'll Do

As a Loan Assistant, you'll support the administrative and operational aspects of commercial equipment lending from application through closing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting lenders with preparing and processing commercial equipment loan applications
  • Collecting and verifying borrower documentation, including financial statements, insurance, and equipment invoices
  • Ordering and reviewing third-party reports such as UCC searches, appraisals, and lien filings
  • Ensuring loan packages meet internal policy and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinating with vendors, title companies, and internal teams to facilitate efficient closings
  • Tracking post-closing requirements, including insurance verification, lien perfection, and document imaging
  • Maintaining accurate loan files and loan tracking systems
  • Delivering exceptional service to both internal partners and external clients
  • Supporting SmartBank's commitment to integrity, compliance, and relationship-driven service
What We're Looking For Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Two or more years of commercial lending, loan operations, or related banking experience preferred
  • Previous equipment finance experience is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with UCC filings, lien perfection, and equipment financing processes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
