What is finance advisory?

Finance advisory refers to the professional service of offering expert guidance on financial matters to individuals, businesses, or organizations. Advisors help clients manage their finances, plan investments, analyze risks, and make informed decisions to achieve financial goals. This can include services such as budgeting, retirement planning, tax strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and wealth management. Finance advisory professionals often work for consulting firms, banks, or as independent advisors. Their objective is to help clients optimize their financial health and navigate complex financial situations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a finance advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Finance Advisor, you need a strong understanding of financial planning, investment strategies, and regulatory compliance, usually supported by a relevant degree and certifications such as CFP or CFA. Proficiency with financial modeling software, portfolio management systems, and CRM tools is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, ethical judgment, and the ability to communicate complex information simply distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure clients receive tailored advice, build lasting trust, and achieve their financial goals in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in finance advisory, and how can they be managed effectively?

Professionals in Finance Advisory often encounter challenges such as staying updated with ever-changing regulations, balancing multiple client priorities, and communicating complex financial concepts in a clear, actionable way. To manage these effectively, strong organizational skills, ongoing professional development, and proactive communication are essential. Collaborating closely with both clients and internal teams also helps ensure recommendations are tailored, compliant, and actionable, fostering trust and long-term client relationships.

About this position

About Creston Advisory LLC

Creston Advisory is a boutique mergers and acquisitions consulting firm built to support investors and operators through every phase of the transaction lifecycle. As handsโ€‘on execution partners โ€” not just advisors โ€” our seniorโ€‘led teams embed directly with clients to drive results across due diligence, M&A integration, and divestitures and carveโ€‘outs. With over 150 transactions supported, $200M in deal synergies realized, and a 100% client retention rate, we bring precision, speed, and confidence to complex deals across industries including SaaS, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and more. At Creston, value creation doesn't happen by accident โ€” it happens by design.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Creston Advisory is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and applicants. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

About the role

Creston Advisory Group advises private equity funds and strategic acquirers across the full M&A lifecycle, providing support in commercial, operational, and IT due diligence, as well as postโ€‘merger integration and value creation initiatives.

We are building out our team and hiring a Manager to lead crossโ€‘border M&A engagements, primarily serving USโ€‘based private equity funds and strategic acquirers.

This is a frontโ€‘end leadership role focused on owning client relationships, leading transactions end-to-end, and driving revenue growth.

Note: This is a contractโ€‘based role

What you'll do
  • Oversee integration and carveโ€‘out strategy with clear execution governance
  • Own end-to-end standalone, synergy, IT, and commercial diligence engagements
  • Lead client, investor and boardโ€‘level discussions with confidence and clarity
  • Identify risks, quantify synergies, and define value creation strategy
  • Build, mentor, and scale highโ€‘performing deal teams
  • Contribute to business development and help shape the India platform
Qualifications
  • 6โ€“8 years of experience in consulting, M&A, or transaction advisory
  • Strong track record of leading teams and managing senior client stakeholders
  • Deep analytical capability across financial and operational drivers
  • Experience with private equity or crossโ€‘border engagements preferred
  • Flexibility to work across US time zones given the frontโ€‘end, clientโ€‘facing nature of the role
Compensation

Compensation will be competitive with topโ€‘tier consulting and transaction advisory firms, aligned with experience and leadership capability.

Why Creston
  • Exposure to highโ€‘impact transactions with leading private equity and corporate clients
  • Opportunity to play a key role in shaping and scaling the Deals practice in the US
  • Leadership responsibility with direct influence on client outcomes and firm growth
  • Highโ€‘growth opportunity as we scale the India platform
