Position Description: Palmetto Corp. is currently looking for an Asphalt Plant Operator. The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the start-up of the plant, operating controls within the plant; weight and delivery of specified quantities of aggregates and asphalt into dump trucks. It also involves placing raw aggregate and liquid asphalt materials through the mixing drum to be stored in silos until load-out occurs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Properly and safely operate plant
- Assist in maintaining asphalt plant and equipment
- Determining proper quantities of materials needed to produce asphalt
- Adjust controls to regulate the flow of materials
- Maintain proper speed of systems
- Perform walk-around and site inspections for all equipment and identify/correct any unsafe conditions
- Communicate effectively with quality control and adjust as needed for material blends
- Communicate effectively with central dispatch regarding proper dispatching of trucks to jobsites
- Assist Plant Foreman in ordering materials needed for plant operation
- Assist Plant Foreman with stockpile management
- Document and maintain all required paperwork
- Communicate efficiently with road foreman on an hourly basis
- Operate loader as needed
- Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).
- Any and all other task as assigned.
Position Requirements
Requirements:
- Must adhere to all Palmetto Corp. safety regulations.
- Experience of 2 or more years in or around the plant
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend and crouch as needed
- Must be able to lift and carry on a frequent basis at least 50 lbs. and up to 150 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely
- Have excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle several project at once while maintaining tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Ability to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Regularly exposed to loud noise and all outdoor weather conditions such as dust and airborne particles
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
