Job description

Summary: The Advanced Special Procedures Technologist expertly performs invasive diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and equipment operation. This role involves managing film processing, patient monitoring, and x-ray equipment with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Competently execute all procedures within the Special Procedures radiology section, providing compassionate care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Operate technical equipment with expertise and maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between nursing staff, unit secretaries, and physicians regarding orders, scheduling, and procedure status.
  • Assess patients, review medical charts and lab results, and ensure all prior imaging and safety documentation are complete before procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, addressing questions within scope and directing others to the interventionalist.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to radiation safety, contrast administration protocols, and infection control guidelines.
  • Document patient care accurately and manage billing procedures through proper charge entry and procedure tracking.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, staying current with procedural methodologies, equipment, and mandatory training.
  • Foster exceptional patient and visitor relations using effective communication techniques such as AIDET.
  • Participate actively in clinical education for student technologists and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Contribute to departmental teamwork and patient satisfaction goals by providing timely, quality care and clear explanations.
Education and Experience:
  • ARRT(R) certification is required.
  • Cardiovascular Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required; VI registry eligible candidates have two years to obtain certification.
  • Licenses and Certifications: RT(R)(CI)(VI) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
