Position Summary

The Machine & Facilities Manager is responsible for the reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all manufacturing equipment and facility systems at HUXWRX Safety Co. This role ensures uptime, safety, and efficiency across additive manufacturing production, secondary operations, and facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in advanced manufacturing equipment, a proactive maintenance mindset, and leadership experience in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Maintenance Management

  • Oversee all maintenance activities for additive manufacturing systems (e.g., metal 3D printers), post-processing equipment, CNC machines, and support equipment
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures quickly and effectively
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory and vendor relationships
  • Analyze machine performance data to drive reliability improvements

Facilities Management

  • Manage facility systems including HVAC, dust collection, compressed air, power distribution, safety systems, and material handling infrastructure
  • Ensure facility compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Coordinate facility upgrades, expansions, and capital projects
  • Oversee contractors and service providers for facility-related work

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all equipment and facility operations meet OSHA and internal safety standards
  • Implement and maintain safe operating procedures for all equipment
  • Lead safety initiatives related to additive manufacturing environments (e.g., powder handling, ventilation, fire prevention)
  • Support audits and inspections (regulatory and internal)

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and facilities personnel
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching
  • Manage scheduling and resource allocation to support production needs
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, uptime, and cost-effectiveness
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM methodologies where applicable
  • Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and validation
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize workflows

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Develop and manage maintenance and facilities budgets
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with equipment vendors and service providers
  • Evaluate new technologies and equipment to support manufacturing growth

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Facilities Management, related field or equivalent experience
  • 5–10+ years of experience in maintenance and facilities management in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (metal AM preferred) strongly desired

Technical Skills

  • Experience working within a manufacturing lifecycle that integrates advanced thin-film surface finishes, (e.g., DLC or similar high-durability coatings).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability practices
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance tracking tools
  • Understanding of facility systems (HVAC, electrical, compressed air, etc.)
  • Familiarity with EHS requirements in advanced manufacturing environments

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Proven leadership and team development skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in highly regulated or precision manufacturing industries
  • Certification in maintenance/reliability (e.g., CMRP, TPM)
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with capital project management and equipment installation
