Job Description
Participates on a self-directed team responsible for quantitative analysis of electronic medical records and partnership with physicians to obtain additional documentation or authentication of existing documentation in the effort to ensure a complete recorded history of episode of care in the patient's medical record. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
  • Experience in a hospital

  • Experience with computers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in radiology clerical
  • Some college
  • Experience in radiology or release of information/electronic medical records systems

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Responsibilities
  • Acts as expert in using Centricity picture archiving and communication system by understanding the relationship between order and images as well as worklists and functions.
  • Analyzes radiology systems to identify any designated deficiencies and resolves order and image deficiencies in Epic Radiant, electronic medical record, picture archiving and communication system, and/or voice recognition databases.
  • Ensures all completed radiology orders are dictated and signed by Radiologist.
  • Ensures all images are linked to proper order in picture archiving and communication system.
  • Understands impact on images when using reject and unrejected functions.
  • Maintains department master patient index database(s).
  • Ensures data integrity and patient identifiers are consistent between computer systems that comprise the patient health record.
  • Coordinates activities to ensure medical records merges are completed and patient identifier data is accurate in all systems that comprise the electronic medical record (e.g., ADT, Epic, ChartMaxx).
  • Performs proper patient merging of duplicate patient records in picture archiving and communication system and creates patient records in picture archiving and communication system when necessary.
  • Assesses film and CD/DVD image sequences.
  • Determines when media arrives with DICOM or other types of images.
  • Uses proper technique to import outside images from CD/DVD or film and ensures they match to an appropriate order in picture archiving and communication system.
  • Completes processing for an outside consult examination order.
  • Manages electronic result fax queue and ensures faxes are transmitted to appropriate recipient.
  • Works with Credentialing to maintain correct physician fax numbers.
  • Provides authorized customers with needed information, such as film, image CD, and faxed or mailed results.
  • Works with legal firms to obtain reimbursement for film distribution.
  • Monitors image archive and retrieves queues and works with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Greets and assists physicians, other medical staff, and patient families entering department and provides assistance as needed in accessing electronic or paper medical records.
  • Assists physicians in clarifying deficiencies, answering questions, addressing physicians and residents, and following up on issues to ensure completion and good customer service.
  • Ensures reading room phone line is always covered and answers incoming phone lines using customer service skills.
  • Greets all visitors in work area and provides appropriate assistance.
  • Communicates to calling party if transfer is needed, to whom caller is being transferred, and provides caller information to transferring party.
  • Interacts with customers and team members with respect, courtesy, and compassion and presents a cooperative and helpful attitude at all times to internal and external customers and coworkers.
  • Possesses knowledge of protected health information, including federal/state regulations.
  • Serves as liaison between Health Information Services, Patient Access, Information Systems & Technology, and clinical areas to resolve patient identifier issues.
  • Enters data and prepares logs for monthly statistics reports.
  • Executes reports and maintains statistics to manage daily activities.
  • Participates effectively as a self-directed team member.
