Role Description<

This remote internship role combines psychological insight with community management for Oakridge’s book-to-film-development Slack community.


The Psychological Intern – Slack Community Manager will facilitate conversations, moderate channels, and encourage constructive, respectful engagement among community members. Daily tasks include welcoming new participants, monitoring community dynamics to support a positive, inclusive environment. The intern will also observe interaction patterns, offer psychologically informed suggestions to improve communication and collaboration, and share regular updates or summaries with Daniel de Boulay.


This unpaid internship role is designed to provide hands-on experience in applied psychology, online community management, and the development process for book-to-film projects.


Qualifications

  • Strong interest or academic background in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related behavioral science field.
  • Skills in online community engagement, moderation, and conflict management within platforms such as Slack or similar communication tools.
  • Clear written communication skills, including the ability to draft concise posts, announcements, and community guidelines.
  • Organizational skills for managing multiple channels, discussion threads, and community initiatives in a structured way.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate empathy, and support an inclusive, respectful environment for diverse community members.
  • Comfort working remotely, with reliable internet access and the ability to manage time and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Interest in storytelling, publishing, film development, or creative industries; prior experience in media or writing is helpful but not required.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant academic program; eligibility for academic credit is welcomed where applicable.


Development Projects


There are three active projects in development at Oakridge that are a high priority.


The first is a thriller set in the cosmetics and beauty industry.


The second is an anti-romcom, adapting How to Cheat by Teresa Conway as a TV series.


The third is a manuscript project, engineered to be released with an A-list actor attached to the adaptation. This contemporary noir retells the story of Hercules 12 labors, imagining the hero as a hitman in the midst of a 12-step therapy program. Imagine if Guy Ritchie wrote a JM Coetzee novel.
