You will be required to upload a letter of application, a statement of teaching philosophy, a current CV, and the names and email addresses of three people who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation. You will also have the option to upload self-developed teaching materials (such as a syllabus, a classroom activity, a quiz, and an exam), evidence of teaching excellence, and to provide a link to a teaching demonstration video.

Job Summary
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I - Filipino Language for the Fall 2026 Term. The successful candidate will teach Filipino language courses at any assigned level. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026.
Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include instruction at any assigned levels and active involvement in teamwork and program affairs. Appointment level will be 33%. This is a renewable one-term appointment.
Required Qualifications*
Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as the following: TESOL, language pedagogy (in Filipino language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics. Native or near-native proficiency in Filipino and English is required.
Desired Qualifications*
At least one year of experience teaching Filipino independently or working as a teaching assistant at the college/university level in the US is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with current second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, heritage/non-heritage teaching, curriculum development, assessments, and material.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
