Job description

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We're redefining what fleet management and asset-backed financing looks like in Canada - helping businesses move faster, run smarter, operate leaner, and get more out of every asset they own. Sound like something you want to be a part of?

Jim Peplinski Capital has been a trusted partner in fleet management for over 35 years, helping Canadian businesses optimize their assets and finances. We provide a fully integrated suite of capital and fleet solutions covering every stage of the fleet lifecycle, from tailored financing structures and sourcing through to administration, programs, and remarketing.

In this role, you'll be on the front lines of our credit & risk function - with real ownership, room to grow, and a direct hand in setting a new standard for how fleet financing is done in Canada.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Senior Credit & Risk Analyst is a key individual contributor on our credit team, responsible for independent adjudication, portfolio monitoring, and mentoring junior team members. This role sits at the intersection of underwriting and risk oversight and is well-suited to a credit professional ready to take on greater responsibility and grow into a leadership position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Credit & Underwriting

  • Independently adjudicate credit applications up to a defined limit, assessing borrower financials, collateral quality, and deal structure
  • Evaluate and recommend approval of credit as applications are submitted; communicate decisions clearly to Sales and management
  • Ensure deal structure is compliant with company credit policies prior to activation; complete pre-activation file audits within required turnaround times
  • Conduct annual reviews of existing commercial credit facilities and adjust credit lines as required
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of credit policies and underwriting guidelines
  • Interact directly with the Sales team and customers to obtain financial information and support credit decisions

Portfolio & Risk

  • Monitor assigned accounts for payment performance, early warning indicators, and portfolio trends across the book
  • Prepare portfolio reports including delinquency summaries, maturity schedules, and concentration analysis
  • Ensure all security interests are registered and renewed prior to expiry
  • Ensure all FINTRAC/Anti Money Laundering ("AML") documentation is complete and current prior to deal activation
  • Support collections on delinquent accounts and assist with workout strategies, including customer bankruptcies
  • Coordinate with external parties (legal, repossession agents, remarketing) on enforcement files as needed

Team & Mentorship

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and file review support to the Credit Analyst and Risk & Receivables Administrator
  • Support knowledge sharing, quality control, and best practice development within the credit team
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to workflow and documentation standards

WHO YOU ARE

  • Sound independent judgment. You make decisions with confidence and integrity - weighing information carefully, standing behind your analysis, and always acting in the best interest of the business. When something doesn't feel right, you say so.
  • Financially sharp. You're an analytical thinker who independently reads, spreads, and interprets financial statements across industries and borrower types. Numbers tell a story and you know how to read it - cutting through complexity to form a clear, defensible view of risk.

  • Intellectually curious and tech forward. You stay sharp, embrace technology to improve your analysis and decision quality, and bring a continuous improvement mindset to your work. As the credit landscape evolves, so do you.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Post-secondary education in relevant field (e.g., Finance, Business, Economics)
  • 5+ years in credit analysis, underwriting, or lending in related fields (e.g., financial institution, specialty lender, fleet management & leasing, equipment leasing & finance, vehicle dealership)
  • Track record of independently adjudicating commercial credit files with confidence and accuracy
  • Strong financial analysis skills: financial statements, cash flow, and collateral valuation
  • Experience with portfolio monitoring, PPSA/lien management, collections, and workout
  • Hands-on experience executing AML/FINTRAC compliance at the transaction level
  • Natural mentor - comfortable sharing knowledge and elevating the people around you
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Excel; strong attention to detail and file management
  • Enrollment in or completion of the Credit Institute of Canada FCI Program; CFA and/or CPA candidacy is an asset

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive base salary + performance bonus
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits starting from day 1
  • Hybrid work - Mississauga office with 1-2 days remote per week
  • Collaborate with a talented and passionate team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Freedom to innovate and ownership of your role - work on meaningful and challenging projects that have a direct impact on the business
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced Credit Manager in a high-growth environment
  • Full-cycle credit exposure - underwriting, portfolio management, collections, and compliance - at a company redefining fleet financing in Canada
