Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Slide File Clerk, under the direction of the Histology Manager, provides general support for the company's internal slide filing system. This person is responsible for maintaining and organizing all anatomical and cytological slides. The Slide File Clerk will also perform routine manual and physical responsibilities as it relates to maintenance of inventory (slides and blocks) of a pathology laboratory.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Daily pickup of incoming slides in the accessioning department.
  • Slide pick up from Greenville Memorial Hospital department.
  • Manually filing all slides and blocks at Pathology Consultants laboratory and Greenville Memorial Hospital.
  • Monitor the slide filing cabinets and communicate with Supervisor when space becomes limited.
  • Assist with slide selection and offsite relocation to make storage space onside.
  • Communicate with the Pathologists and assist in locating/pulling cases for review.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
  • Nothing in the job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Licensure
  • High School diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of File Clerk experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is requiered.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds throughout shift.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
