To thrive as a Figma Developer, you need a strong grasp of UI/UX design principles, proficiency in Figma, and a solid understanding of front-end development languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with design systems, prototyping tools, and version control platforms such as Git is typically required. Collaboration, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for translating design concepts into functional, user-friendly interfaces. These skills ensure high-quality, consistent digital products and smooth collaboration between design and development teams.

How does a Figma Developer typically collaborate with designers and other team members during a project?

A Figma Developer works closely with designers by translating design prototypes into interactive, production-ready components while ensuring the final product matches the intended user experience. Job description

At Figma, we're building a vibrant community where designers come together to learn, grow, and connect around their shared passion. Our Advocacy team is central to this mission-empowering our users through engaging content, meaningful interactions, and genuine advocacy.

This Advocate would focus on supporting public sector organizations as they modernize how they design, build, and collaborate, partnering closely with our Marketing, Sales, and Product teams. You'll bring deep design expertise, authentic storytelling, and a genuine love for the design community into our gotomarket strategies, while championing our users' voices internally to help shape product evolution.

This role is available remotely in the Washington, DC Metro Area, and reports directly to the Advocacy Manager.

What you'll do at Figma:
  • Empower users at scale: Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Experience teams to enable federal, state, and local government customers to unlock the full potential of Figma in regulated environments
  • Create compelling content: Develop engaging written and video resources tailored to governmental needs, including guidance on design systems, collaboration, and modern delivery practices
  • Inspire community connections: Build meaningful relationships across the Figma community with a focus on public sector, govtech, and civic design practitioners, identifying opportunities for collaboration and shared learning
  • Speak and engage at events: Represent Figma at relevant industry events, conferences, briefings, and Figma community programs, sharing practical, real-world insights
  • Champion user voices: Surface feedback, constraints, and emerging needs from government and regulated customers, advocating internally to inform product direction, prioritization, and improvements
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Figma, including integrating it into diverse, large-scale, and regulated design and development environments
  • Strong understanding of modern product development workflows, with experience building, managing, or operating design systems at scale
  • Technical fluency and sharp design judgment, with a clear point of view on how design translates into production-ready systems
  • Passion for engaging with the design community-especially in govtech or civic spaces-and confidence presenting to audiences ranging from small stakeholders to large industry groups
  • Empathy for public sector designers and developers, paired with an entrepreneurial mindset to navigate ambiguity, experiment, travel extensively (25%+), and turn ideas into impact
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
