InfraHire is looking for an Field Technician in State College, PA.
Job Description:

 

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Field Technician / Staff Scientist to support field investigations, materials testing, environmental site work, and technical reporting for a variety of construction and engineering projects. This role combines hands-on field responsibilities with office-based documentation and analysis, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both outdoor project work and technical support tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing and inspection activities on construction and site development projects
  • Collect and document data related to soil, concrete, asphalt, and subsurface conditions
  • Assist with field observations, sampling, site investigations, and related testing procedures
  • Support geotechnical and environmental projects through field logging, documentation, and sample handling
  • Conduct groundwater and soil-related field tasks in accordance with project requirements
  • Prepare field notes, daily logs, boring logs, and other project documentation
  • Assist with preparing tables, figures, draft reports, and technical summaries
  • Coordinate project information and communicate findings with internal staff and clients as needed
  • Help maintain accurate records for testing, monitoring, and reporting activities
  • Support project teams with scheduling, field coordination, and general project follow-up

Qualifications

  • Background in construction, civil engineering, environmental science, geology, geotechnical services, or a related field preferred
  • Experience with field testing, site inspections, sampling, or laboratory work is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field and project information
  • Comfortable working both outdoors on active project sites and indoors on reports and documentation
  • Good communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn industry testing and inspection procedures; training may be provided for the right candidate
  • Must have a personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and a good driving record
