Job Overview


Komatsu is seeking a Field Service Supervisor to lead our team of Field Service Technicians supporting the Robinson Mine site in Ely, Nevada. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving safety, service excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance while ensuringthesuccessful execution of field service operations.

As the primary on-site leader, you will work closely with technicians, customers, account managers, and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality service. The successful candidate will foster a strong safety culture, provide technical and operational leadership, develop teammembers, and ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded.

This position is ideal for a proven leader with experience managing technical teams, supporting mining equipment operations, and building strong customer relationships.

We welcome candidates based in Ely, Salt Lake City, Elko, or surrounding regions who are willing to commute to Ely and be on-site Monday through Friday to support our technicians and customer operations

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Field Service Technicians.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability for performance, safety, and service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion Komatsu's zero-harm safety culture and ensure all work is performed safely.
  • Enforce company, customer, MSHA, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and compliance reviews.

Project & Job Management

  • Oversee field service projects from planning and quoting through execution and completion.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and to Komatsu quality standards.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, account managers, and internal leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and responsiveness.
  • Proactively address concerns and ensure customer service expectations are met.

Workforce Planning & Coordination

  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to support operational requirements and budgeted headcount.
  • Collaborate with other regions and departments to maximize resource utilization and availability.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives.

Service Utilization & Operational Excellence

  • Monitor field service utilization, productivity, and operational performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance service quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that support customer satisfaction and business objectives.

Technical Support

  • Provide advanced technical guidance and troubleshooting support for field service teams and customers.
  • Assist with diagnosing complex equipment issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Act as a technical resource for shovel and dragline maintenance and repair activities.

Financial Accountability

  • Manage and achieve operational financial targets including revenue, margin, labor utilization, and expense control.
  • Monitor project costs and resource allocation to ensure profitable service execution.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and business planning activities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Previous leadership experience or significant technical experience in heavy mining equipment service operations.
  • Proven experience supporting and maintaining mining shovels and draglines.
  • Demonstrated success managing field operations, projects, and customer relationships.
  • Experience leading teams in a mining, construction, or heavy equipment environment preferred.

Certifications & Skills

  • MSHA certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic equipment, functional testing devices, and specialized troubleshooting tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support field operations and business objectives.
  • Valid driver's license.

Technical Aptitude

  • Strong understanding of heavy mining equipment systems and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in practical, easy-to-understand terms.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational and technical challenges.
