Job Title: DP Systems Offshore Field Service Engineer

Job Summary
Are you a technically skilled professional with a passion for marine automation and offshore systems? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DP Systems Offshore Field Service Engineer to join our global team. In this critical role, you will independently execute installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems, sensors, and marine propulsion control systems at offshore locations worldwide. Your expertise will directly support our clients’ operational excellence while providing essential on-site and remote technical assistance. Responsibilities
Technical Support (Office)

  • Provide expert technical assistance for DP systems, joystick controls, and sensor configurations
  • Troubleshoot DP software issues, including Linux-based platforms and network infrastructure
  • Support product enhancements and system upgrades
  • Conduct testing, configuration, and repair of spare and returned equipment (RMA)
  • Assist in maintaining technical documentation and configuration management systems

Field Service / Commissioning (On-Site)

  • Prepare for service engagements through detailed drawings and configuration verification
  • Install, commission, and configure DP and control systems, including software loading and network setup
  • Verify installation, cabling, and system integration accuracy
  • Configure and calibrate DP sensor systems such as gyros, MRUs, wind sensors, DGNSS, radar, and laser systems
  • Perform system testing, tuning, and optimization to ensure operational readiness
  • Lead sea trials, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and class verification activities
  • Provide onboard training to vessel personnel to ensure smooth operation and system understanding
  • Coordinate and collaborate with third-party vendors and system integrators

Project & Reporting

  • Generate detailed service reports and update project documentation
  • Maintain system backups and ensure project databases are current
  • Update as-built drawings reflecting final configurations
  • Submit timely expense reports and assist with project administrative tasks

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work complies with quality standards such as ISO-9001 or equivalent
  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with HSE standards
  • Keep technical certifications and training current
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers as needed

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AAS) in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years' field service experience with DP systems, automation, or control systems within a marine or offshore environment
  • Hands-on experience with DP-related equipment such as gyros, GPS, MRUs, radar, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and IP networking protocols
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%+), including international assignments; field work may last over two weeks
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate vessel environments, including ladders and confined spaces
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Over 5 years of relevant field service experience
  • Experience with control programming languages such as Ladder Logic, C++, or Java
  • Familiarity with modern DP software platforms
  • Excellent client-facing skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively
