Field Service Technician
STADLER America, LLC

Position Summary

STADLER America, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Technician to provide service support, preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and customer technical support for recycling and waste processing equipment throughout the United States. This position requires approximately 60% travel, primarily within the U.S., with occasional international travel. Candidates should reside near a major airport to support efficient travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and emergency service on recycling systems and material handling equipment.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, screens, ballistic separators, and related equipment.

· Perform electrical troubleshooting of motors, sensors, drives, and control panels.

· Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (preferred) and work alongside automation engineers when required.

· Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.

· Train customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and safe work practices.

· Complete accurate service reports and communicate recommendations to customers and engineering teams.

· Commission equipment and support startups as assigned.

· Maintain a professional, customer-focused presence while working independently.

Required Qualifications

· 3–7 years of field service, industrial maintenance, or related experience with heavy industrial, recycling, conveying, or material handling equipment.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

· Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.

· Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

· Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with recycling facilities, MRFs, conveyors, aggregate, packaging, or custom industrial machinery.

· Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.

· Technical degree or apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.

· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

· CORE 4 Equipment certification.

· Lockout/Tagout training.

Travel Requirements

· Approximately 60% travel throughout the United States.

· Occasional international travel may be required.

· Remote/home-based position; candidates should live near a major airport.

· Willingness to travel for projects lasting one to three weeks or longer.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

· Frequently lift and move equipment and components up to 100 pounds (with appropriate lifting assistance when required).

· Work at heights, climb ladders, and access elevated platforms.

· Work in industrial recycling and waste processing facilities exposed to dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions.

· Follow all PPE, OSHA, and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
