Contract: Through June 30, 2027, with potential for extension or contract-to-hire

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to support radio/subscriber equipment from the Sarasota service location. This is a great opportunity for someone with an electronics, telecommunications, radio, field service, or military communications background.

Direct Motorola radio experience is highly preferred but is not required. The hiring manager is willing to train someone who brings a strong technical foundation, is self-motivated, and can learn quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and configure radio/subscriber equipment
  • Perform firmware updates and preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues
  • Support equipment and radio installations
  • Work with cabling, connectors, antennas and test equipment
  • Perform hands-on hardware troubleshooting and repair
  • Support customers at local/regional customer sites as needed
  • Complete extensive hands-on and technical training

Ideal Background

  • Electronics, telecommunications, radio communications or related technical experience
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware/electronic equipment
  • Understanding of mobile/two-way radio systems, cabling, connectors and antennas
  • Field service or customer-site experience
  • Networking knowledge is a strong plus
  • Military communications/electronics experience is highly valued
  • Motorola CPS, Radio Management or RadioCentral experience is a significant plus
  • Technical/vocational training in electronics or telecommunications preferred; degree is not required

Additional Details

  • Must be able to work onsite in Sarasota five days per week
  • Local candidates are strongly preferred
  • Some local/regional customer-site travel is required; a company vehicle is provided for business travel
  • Some travel may be required for training, with infrequent overnight travel
  • Potential overtime may occur but is not expected regularly
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to required background/CJIS screening
  • Previous security clearance experience is a plus

Certification

The Associate CET (Associate Certified Electronics Technician) certification through ETA is not required to start. The selected individual will be expected to work toward the certification, particularly if the position converts to a permanent opportunity. Training and resources are available to support certification.

What They Are Really Looking For

The hiring manager is open to someone who may not already know the client's systems. The key is finding a technically capable, hands-on person who is motivated, comfortable learning independently, and able to ramp up quickly in a radio/electronics service environment.
