Job description

Job Summary:
Melink Solar is a leading commercial solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company specializing in designing and building solar arrays. We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomousSenior Field Service Technicianto own Quality Assurance and Control and assist in the operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of our C&I and DG portfolio. As the on-site technical expert, you will be responsible for conducting detailed QAQC inspections and when necessary, advanced troubleshooting, commissioning support, and ensuring the highest levels of safety. You will be a key representative of Melink Solar, interfacing directly with clients, subcontractors, and asset managers to guarantee the long-term success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control
  • Conduct field inspections and audits to verify compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Provide feedback on QAQC checklists and protocols for installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
  • Document and report non-conformances, and collaborate with project teams to implement corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recuring issues and recommending process enhancements.
  • Ensure all work meets NEC, IEEE, ANSI, Melink quality standards and tech specs, along with our customers.
  • Assist in training field staff and subcontracts on QAQC procedures and expectations.
  • Support Engineering and Project Execution teams in reviewing vendor documentation such as drawings and test reports.
  • Support system commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing.

Technical Operations & Maintenance
  • Lead and perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on DC systems (up to 1500V) and low/medium/high voltage AC power systems.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on all major plant assets, including inverters, trackers, transformers, switchgear, and SCADA systems.
  • Identify, document, and resolve equipment failures and system underperformance issues using advanced diagnostic tools (IV curve tracers, thermal cameras, power quality analyzers, etc.).
  • Support retrofit/upgrade projects on existing systems post.
  • Work directly with OEMs to troubleshoot and maintain system operation.
  • Maintain onsite and remote communication networks. Troubleshoot networking issues on fiber, ethernet, modbus, rs485, etc.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis of failures and develop corrective action plans.

Site Leadership & Client Relations
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, professionally representing Melink Solar to clients, asset owners, equipment manufacturers, and subcontractors.
  • Preset, support, and lead by example with a safety-first and quality-oriented culture on every job site.
  • Mentor and guide other technicians or subcontractors as needed.(This is a key "senior" duty)

Administration & Reporting
  • Diligently utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all work, manage work orders, and track asset history.
  • Support ordering, inventory, and logistics of spare parts for assigned sites.
  • Support tracking costs and provide data to support financial reporting.

Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all work is performed in strict accordance with Melink Solar policy, OSHA, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Fill out Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) before work begins.
  • Follow Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures for all electrical and mechanical work.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair ofCommercial & Industrial (C&I) or Utility-Scalesolar PV systems is required. Experience indirectly related will still be evaluated.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and construction drawings.
  • Advanced understanding and troubleshooting capability for SCADA, DAS, and plant communication systems.
  • Proficiency with advanced electrical testing equipment (e.g., megohmmeters, IV Curve Tracers, thermal cameras, oscilloscopes).
  • Familiarity with ANSI/NETA/MTS testing procedures.
  • Experience with commissioning and maintenance of battery storage systems (BESS) and their associated management systems (BMS).
  • Experience conducting QAQC inspections and audits in solar or electrical construction environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems
  • Ability to interpret and enforce quality specifications and standards

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional or O&M/Quality Specialist Certification (Preferred)
  • FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot License (Preferred)

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Travel:This is a field-based role requiringup to 100% travelto project sites across the Midwest and occasionally other regions in the US. A company vehicle will be provided.
  • Environment:Ability to work outdoors in adverse and extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, wind). Position requires traversing active construction sites.
  • Physical:Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work comfortably at heights. The role requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
