Job description

Unicorn Construction is seeking a:


Civil / Heavy / Highway Field Engineer 


  • To work in the field on project's location throughout LI/NYC/NJ
  • Capable of understanding and assisting in the coordination of various work trades, including materials, labor, equipment and subcontractors on heavy / highway projects
  • Take field measurements for quantity record keeping, billing, ordering materials, production analysis of work activities
  • Cost coding of all job costs, keeping field records of all daily work activities
  • Able to handle work on multiple projects (these may range from one large project to multiple simultaneous smaller projects)
  • Knowledgeable about applicable safety standards and assist in implementation and adherence to safety regulations and policies
  • Ability to take direction and support Project Manager, Project Engineer and Superintendent
  • Capable of reading, understanding and executing project plans, specifications and standards for heavy / highway construction


 Minimum Qualification Requirements:


  • At least 2 years of experience preferred in the Heavy/Highway Field of Construction.
  • Civil Engineering Degree and completion of surveying courses is not required, but advantageous.
  • Shows ability and has past experience with project planning, task planning and coordination, logistical management of resources (labor, equipment, materials)
  • Ability to read and understand / interpret contract plans and approved shop drawings.
  • Must have ability to clearly document and communicate – both written and verbal
