Job description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Sr. Technical Sales Engineer/Field Manager for a direct-hire assignment with one of our premier Generative AI technology clients in New York City. This is a hybrid position requiring approximately four days per week onsite at client locations throughout Manhattan.
This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing enterprise AI company focused exclusively on the investment management industry. As a Senior Field Manager, you will own a portfolio of strategic client relationships, helping leading asset managers, hedge funds, and investment firms transform their businesses through Agentic AI. You will partner closely with executive stakeholders, Forward Deployed Engineers, Product, and Engineering teams to identify high-value AI use cases, guide successful implementations, and continuously expand client adoption of the platform.
This is not a traditional project management or account management role. We are seeking a technically-minded consultant who can understand complex business workflows, engage with senior technology and business leaders, and help clients maximize the value of enterprise AI solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Own the success of a portfolio of approximately 3-5 investment management client engagements, serving as the primary strategic relationship owner.
  • Build trusted partnerships with executive stakeholders across Technology, Investment, Operations, and Business leadership.
  • Understand each client's investment management workflows and identify opportunities to automate and enhance research, portfolio management, trading, and operational processes through AI.
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers to design, implement, refine, and continuously improve AI-powered workflows and solutions.
  • Translate complex business challenges into scalable AI and workflow automation opportunities.
  • Lead client solution planning sessions, executive business reviews, steering committee meetings, and roadmap discussions.
  • Coordinate delivery across Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Executive Leadership to ensure successful client outcomes.
  • Manage and mentor Forward Deployed Engineers supporting assigned client engagements.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships by introducing new AI use cases and capabilities.
  • Proactively manage delivery risks, resolve issues, and ensure clients realize measurable business value.
  • Help establish best practices as the Field organization continues to scale.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, technology consulting, enterprise software delivery, solution architecture, customer success engineering, or client-facing technical leadership.
  • Strong Financial Services experience, preferably within asset management, hedge funds, investment management, wealth management, or capital markets.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple enterprise client relationships simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to lead complex software or technology implementations from strategy through execution.
  • Strong consultative mindset with the ability to uncover business problems and translate them into technology solutions.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with software engineers and architects while communicating comfortably with executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with a technology consulting, Forward Deployed Engineering, or technical client advisory organization (e.g., Palantir, Accenture, Deloitte, EY, PwC, Slalom, Thoughtworks, Publicis Sapient, Capgemini, or similar).
  • Experience delivering AI, data, analytics, cloud, digital transformation, or enterprise software initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Python applications, APIs, enterprise integrations, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or modern software engineering practices.
  • Exposure to Agentic AI, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), or AI application development.
  • Familiarity with investment management technology platforms, market data, trading systems, or investment research workflows.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.
What Success Looks Like
Successful Senior Field Managers become trusted advisors to their clients by combining technical credibility with strong business consulting skills. They help customers continuously discover new AI use cases, maximize adoption of the platform, deliver measurable business outcomes, and expand the company's footprint across the organization through thoughtful engagement and successful execution.
