ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: The Ag Operations General Labor position supports the day-to-day operations of the Cal Poly Pomona Ag Operations. This role involves performing a variety of general farm labor activities essential to the production and maintenance of farm crops. The employee will assist with transplanting, thinning, hoeing, and drip tape installation, as well as harvesting and packing produce.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Assist with transplanting, thinning, hoeing, and other field preparation activities.
  • Participate in drip tape installation, maintenance, and removal.
  • Support harvesting and packing operations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all food safety and worker safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, and windy environments.
  • Adhere to work schedules and assignments as directed by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. (Must be able to lift 25lbs.)
  • Willingness to work in outdoor agricultural environments under various weather conditions.
  • Dependable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Previous farm or field experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be approved to work in the United States
