Job Description

We are seeking a Fire Alarm / Life Safety Inspector to join our growing team in New York City. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in fire alarm systems, code compliance inspections, and life safety systems within commercial, residential, or industrial environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire alarm systems, NYC fire/life safety codes, and inspection procedures, along with excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, and evaluations of fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NFPA standards, NYC building/fire codes, and client requirements
  • Conduct field inspections and identify deficiencies or code violations
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, property managers, engineers, and AHJs as needed
  • Support fire alarm code consulting activities and provide recommendations for corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and service activities
  • Assist with project closeouts and compliance verification
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of experience in fire alarm inspection, life safety systems, or code consulting
  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • NICET Level I certification minimum required
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and NYC fire/building regulations
  • Experience performing field inspections of fire alarm systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and system schematics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional NICET certifications (Level II+) a plus
  • Experience with commercial high-rise or mixed-use properties
  • OSHA certification is a plus
