Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Roadway Field Inspector to the join Georgia Maintenance Engineering and Inspections Team. In this position, you would be responsible for conducting asset condition assessments along the roadway in Southwest Georgia in association with the Maintenance Rating Program. Assets inspected include shoulders, conveyances, drains, guardrails, cable rails and signs, among others and the results help to determine the level of maintenance provided on these assets.

This role will sit within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

As a Roadway Field Inspector, you will be responsible for reading and comprehending the MRP Field Assessment Manual and MRP Application Manual. You will conduct asset condition assessments along the roadway and enter data into the mobile based application in accordance with said manuals. You will work as an individual and must be responsible for the efficient use of your time. 

The assets will be located along a 10th mile stretch of road, as such you will be responsible for walking the length of the roadway, traversing sloped terrain to locate and inspect the assets and clearing vegetation as needed to access and provide clear photos of the assets.

Since the inspection locations are randomly located on Interstate and State Routes in Georgia you will be responsible for driving 1-2 hours to the inspection sites, which is included in paid time. The inspector is responsible for maintaining the provided field equipment, mobile device and fleet vehicle to company standards by following established maintenance protocols. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR report
  • Be physically fit, nimble, enjoys working outdoors. Ability to drive for long distances, walk 4 or more miles and physically capable of heavy lifting items such as storm sewer and manhole covers or to transverse slopes to locate drainage assets.
  • Be self-motivated, hardworking and organized. Must feel comfortable working alone with ability to communicate with peers and office members as needed.
  • Familiarity with technology, including use mobile applications and network hotspots. Must be detail oriented to follow inspection protocols in MRP Field Assessment Manual and follow precise data entry protocols in the MRP Application Manual and emailed instructions. 
  • Be Health and Safety Conscious as maneuvering amongst biological hazards, walking along rough\uneven terrain working in remote areas, and on the shoulder of heavily travelled roadways.
  • Be able to navigate laptop to complete office tasks. Includes Microsoft Office for email communication and web-based HR related tasks and trainings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+years of experience on roadway maintenance or roadway construction inspection
