Responsibilities

Job Summary

Perform basic field work including collecting information and measurements of utility locations, collecting GPS data points, reviewing system maps and records, and producing field sketches for accurate as -built documentation. MasTec Professional Services will provide detailed training for standard survey and construction practices required for this role for utility design projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation.
  • Provide field support for design to adhere to company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule.
  • Compile and submit accurate paperwork and field data for senior staff review.
  • Adhere and promote company safety measures at all times
  • Collect field data points using a GPS unit
  • Work with mobile and desktop applications.
  • Work in and around active construction sites
  • Communicate with client and sub-contractor construction and install teams to coordinate work.
  • Capture detailed and confirmed field data.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to pass DOT drug test.
  • Government contracts require U.S. Citizenship.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients and management staff.
  • Experience working in field in varying weather and site conditions
  • Ability/willingness to travel as required for the job.
  • Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office programs and field applications for surveying and data management.
  • AutoCAD and experience with gas utility installation a plus.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and, in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment.
