We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven
Mid-Level Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of general/mixed construction projects, from initial conceptual budgets through final bid submission. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of hands-on estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and other project documents across various project types and delivery methods (hard bid, design-build, negotiated).
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids/proposals.
- Analyze historical cost data and market conditions to develop accurate unit pricing.
- Assist in developing conceptual and preliminary budgets during early design phases.
- Identify project scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare bid packages, scope sheets, and bid day summaries.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to validate assumptions and pricing.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, GMP documents, and change order estimates.
- Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit price records.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as required.
- Support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.
- 2-4 years of experience in construction estimating
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent field/estimating experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar) - willingness to learn our systems is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standard practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with project management
