Job description

Job Summary
Build the record that helps keep communities safe.
At VW Connect, we don't just install natural gas infrastructure-we build the systems that serve growing communities for decades to come. As a Field Data Collector, your work becomes the permanent record of every pipeline and fitting installed in the field. The information you collect is relied upon by Southwest Gas to accurately locate underground utilities, support future construction, respond to emergencies, and identify materials if a product recall ever occurs.
This is a position for someone who takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and doing the job right the first time. Every job matters, and every detail counts.
What You'll Do
  • Travel to active construction sites in a company-provided vehicle.
  • Collect accurate data for newly installed natural gas pipe and fittings.
  • Record GPS locations and installation information using company-issued tablets and GPS equipment.

Experience in utility data collection is a plus, and Southwest Gas Field Data Collector certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Verify that every completed installation is documented completely and accurately.
  • Work closely with field crews to ensure no installation is missed.
  • Maintain organized, accurate records while working independently in the field.

What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means delivering complete and accurate documentation every day. If five installations are completed, all five are documented-without shortcuts or missing information. Your attention to detail directly supports the safety, reliability, and integrity of the natural gas system.
We're looking for someone who:
  • Takes ownership of their work and follows through.
  • Has exceptional attention to detail.
  • Understands that accuracy is more important than taking shortcuts.
  • Is dependable and understands the importance of being present and prepared each workday.
  • Works independently while communicating effectively with field crews and supervisors.
  • Is committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Shares our belief that safety and productivity go hand in hand.

Experience in utility data collection is a plus, and Southwest Gas Field Data Collector certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk across uneven terrain throughout the workday.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Monday-Friday schedule, typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime is expected as needed.
  • Ability to use tablets, GPS equipment, and other field technology.

Benefits:
  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person
