Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Control Analyst to monitor project and operational costs, track budgets, analyze financial variances, and support accurate cost forecasting and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced Excel and ERP experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with procurement, project management, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain cost baselines and budgets.
  • Monitor actual expenses against approved budgets and track commitments and accruals.
  • Monitor and audit scrap generation and validate associated cost impacts.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify cost deviations, budget overruns, and areas of financial risk.
  • Investigate significant cost variances and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, financial summaries, and performance metrics for management.
  • Support forecasting activities by analyzing current spending, trends, and projected costs.
  • Review change orders and project scope changes and assess their impact on cost forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Project Managers, vendors, and other departments to review pricing and identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Follow up on outstanding cost-related actions and ensure timely resolution.
  • Monitor overtime costs and support the overtime review and approval process.
  • Develop and monitor cost KPIs to identify trends, control expenditures, and improve cost performance.
  • Maintain accurate cost records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Use ERP systems and financial data to support cost tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • Provide cost-related insights and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in cost control, cost management, financial analysis, project controls, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
Preferred Knowledge
  • Familiarity with cost control and project control processes.
  • Knowledge of scrap cost analysis and cost auditing.
  • Experience monitoring overtime costs and approval processes.
  • Experience developing and tracking cost KPIs.
  • Familiarity with industry cost management standards and guidance, including AACE International practices.
