Job description

Second Nature Brands (SNB) is a rapidly growing, private-equity-backed consumer packaged goods company with a portfolio of iconic snack and treat brands, including Kar’s and Sanders, both proudly manufactured in Michigan. We are on a mission to scale the business from $500M to $1B in revenue over the next two years through a deliberate combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. This growth agenda is supported by ongoing investment in our brands, operations, systems, and people.

We are seeking a Cost Accountant for our Sanders manufacturing facility in Clinton Township, Michigan. This role supports the financial and operational performance of the manufacturing facility by owning product costing, manufacturing variance analysis, inventory valuation, and operational cost insights. The Cost Accountant partners closely with plant leadership and Operations Finance and is designed as a development path toward future Plant Controller roles. This is a daily an in-office role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze standard costs (materials, labor, overhead) in SAP S/4HANA Cloud
  • Prepare and analyze manufacturing variances including PPV, usage, labor, and overhead
  • Support month-end close related to inventory, COGS, and manufacturing variances
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, CI, and HR on cost drivers and improvements
  • Support annual standard cost roll-ups and ongoing cost maintenance
  • Assist with capital project financial analysis
  • Prepare routine operational and cost reporting for plant leadership
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and AOP activities for manufacturing costs
  • Support inventory controls including cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Use Excel and BI tools to analyze data and communicate insights
  • Provide product cost projection for R&D/Sales for potential new products/pack configurations
  • Review intercompany receivables to ensure proper balance across company codes/ERP’s
  • Analyze and validate warehouse and transportation costs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud experience required
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with BI / reporting tools
  • Understanding of procurement, BOMs, routings, and manufacturing processes

Preferred

  • Food or CPG manufacturing experience
  • High-volume manufacturing environment experience
  • PE-backed company experience
